The SMAP/ICESat-2 Sea Ice Focus Session is a follow-up to the SMAP/ICESat-2 Joint Mission Tutorial held in Fairbanks, Alaska on September 18-20, 2012. This meeting opens up a unique opportunity to explore in detail the benefits outlined during the Tutorial for incorporating SMAP (launching 2014) and ICESat-2 (launching 2017) data products into existing sea ice research for operational and commercial applications. The Focus Session will concentrate on development of joint sea ice data products, clarifying how data products of each mission will function, and gaining an understating of how to better utilize mission products for applications.
